The Iranian Army has announced that four officers from its Ground Forces were killed while defending the country's airspace.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Tasnim news agency, that the incident occurred during a confrontation with hostile aerial assets.
On April 5, Iranian military personnel engaged aircraft and drones belonging to US forces in the Mahyar region of Isfahan province. According to official reports, the Iranian forces entered combat to repel the incursion, resulting in the deaths of four high-ranking officers. The operation was led by General Masoud Zare, who was killed alongside Colonel Said Mousavi, Lieutenant Colonel Moein Heidari, and Lieutenant Milad Salarvand.
The Isfahan province is a strategically significant region in central Iran, housing several critical military installations and nuclear facilities. Tensions in the Middle East have remained elevated as regional powers and international forces frequently engage in shadow warfare and direct military confrontations. This latest incident follows a series of escalations involving US and Israeli operations aimed at neutralizing perceived threats in the region, highlighting the volatile security environment currently surrounding Iran's borders and its internal military infrastructure.
