US President Donald Trump met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East and international security cooperation.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during a press conference following the meeting, President Trump made several high-stakes remarks regarding the geopolitical situation, hinting at a decisive role in Israel's recent military strategy. "I may have been the one who forced Israel on this matter," the US President stated, referring to military actions against Iran.
President Donald Trump asserted that preemptive measures were taken due to certainty that Iran intended to launch an initial strike. He claimed that Iran's air defense systems and detection facilities have been completely neutralized. The US leader emphasized that Iran's military capabilities must be fully dismantled and advocated for the establishment of new leadership in Tehran. "Many individuals intended for leadership in Iran are no longer alive. We will simply continue to move forward, and we want someone more suitable to come to power in Iran. The worst-case scenario is that the person who comes after a regime change is as bad as the previous one," Trump noted.
Regarding international relations, President Trump praised Germany's actions concerning the Iran issue. However, he signaled a sharp shift in diplomacy elsewhere, stating that all trade relations with Spain would be severed and expressing dissatisfaction with the position of the United Kingdom. Despite the rapid development of events, the US leader mentioned there are currently no specific plans for the evacuation of embassies.
This meeting comes at a critical juncture for transatlantic relations as the Trump administration continues to reshape US foreign policy in the Middle East. The discussions between the US President and Chancellor Merz highlight the ongoing efforts to align Western allies against regional threats while signaling a more assertive American stance on global trade and diplomatic loyalty.
