US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will launch strikes against Iran's power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened for shipping within 48 hours.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the president issued the warning via his Truth Social account. "If Iran does not fully and safely open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the United States will strike and destroy various power plants, starting with the largest ones," US President Donald Trump stated.

The ultimatum follows a series of escalating tensions in the region. On March 11, an official from the Iranian Armed Forces announced that Tehran would not permit fuel shipments associated with the United States and its allies through the strategic waterway. Subsequently, on March 15, Iranian officials warned that they could employ all available measures, including strict control over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, to protect their interests.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, it serves as the primary export route for petroleum from the Middle East. Any disruption to traffic in this narrow waterway typically triggers significant volatility in global energy markets and heightened international security concerns.
