Ahead of the new academic year, authorities in Azerbaijan are intensifying traffic safety measures in the vicinity of educational institutions.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Baku City State Traffic Police Department and the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) have issued a joint statement regarding these enhanced protocols.
According to the statement, as the start of the academic year approaches, measures are being taken to ensure road safety on the capital's streets and avenues, particularly in areas where schools and universities are located. With the influx of students, pedestrian and vehicle traffic intensity is expected to rise significantly, prompting officials to tighten oversight of road conditions near these facilities.
Traffic police and AYNA representatives are currently conducting comprehensive assessments of traffic organization near schools. This includes reviewing existing road signs and pavement markings, with immediate corrective actions being taken to address any identified deficiencies. Special attention is being directed toward pedestrian crossings and traffic control devices to ensure the highest level of safety for students commuting to and from their classes.
This initiative is part of a broader, recurring effort by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and municipal transport agencies in Azerbaijan to mitigate traffic congestion and prevent accidents during the busy back-to-school season. By proactively managing traffic flow and infrastructure near educational hubs, authorities aim to create a safer environment for thousands of students across the capital.
