Drinking water supply for approximately 12,000 subscribers in Sumgait will be temporarily restricted starting from 21:00 on April 22. The suspension, which is expected to last until the morning hours, is necessary to facilitate urgent repair and construction work on a major water main serving a significant portion of the city's population.
The Sumgait Sukanal Department informed the local bureau of the Operative Information Center-OMM that the interruption will affect several residential areas. Specifically, the water cut will impact the 48th, 50th, 51st, and 53rd blocks, five-story buildings in the 16th and 17th micro-districts, the 18th micro-district, and parts of the Jorat settlement. Officials noted that water supply will be restored in stages once the technical repairs are finalized.
Sumgait, the third-largest city in Azerbaijan and a major industrial hub, has been undergoing various infrastructure modernization projects to improve utility services for its residents. These maintenance works are part of a broader effort by national utility providers to ensure the long-term reliability of the water distribution network and prevent future outages across the Absheron Peninsula.
