The speed limit on the Zigh Circle-Airport highway has been reduced due to rainy weather conditions in the capital.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of the change by the Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the official statement, the speed limit on certain lanes of the Zigh Circle-Airport route has been lowered by 20 km/h to ensure road safety during the current precipitation in Baku. NIIM personnel have updated the electronic information boards and speed displays along the highway to reflect these changes.
"Additionally, 'slippery road' warning signs have been activated on all electronic displays. Drivers are urged to strictly adhere to the established speed limits and maintain a safe distance," the report emphasized. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to monitor traffic flow in the capital to prevent potential accidents caused by the weather.
The Zigh Circle-Airport highway is one of Baku's primary arterial roads, connecting the city center and southern residential areas with Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Given its high traffic density and strategic importance, authorities frequently implement temporary speed restrictions during adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, which are common in the Absheron Peninsula. These measures are part of Azerbaijan's broader initiative to enhance road safety and modernize traffic management through intelligent transport systems.
