The primary objective of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's tenure will be the transition of the current regime in Cuba, according to political analyst Pavel Dubravsky.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Dubravsky, head of the Dubravsky Consulting agency and a specialist in American studies, identified the island nation as a focal point for the new administration's foreign policy agenda.
According to the expert, Rubio's main priority is to achieve a change of government in Havana.
“The Secretary of State's plans include the removal of the ruling elite in Cuba. This process may be implemented following scenarios previously tested in Venezuela. The state of emergency regime established by US President Donald Trump's administration provides the necessary legal framework for the imposition of new sanctions and tariffs,” Dubravsky stated.
Furthermore, Dubravsky addressed the Republican Party's prospects in upcoming midterm elections. He suggested that the activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota could potentially impact the party's performance in that region.
The appointment of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State under US President Donald Trump signals a more assertive American stance in Latin America. Rubio, a Florida Senator of Cuban descent, has long been a vocal critic of authoritarian regimes in the Western Hemisphere. His strategy is expected to align with the broader foreign policy goals of the Trump administration, which emphasize national security, economic pressure through sanctions, and the promotion of democratic governance in the Caribbean and South America.
