US President Donald Trump has stated that while his administration prefers a diplomatic resolution regarding Iran, the United States remains prepared to take military action if necessary to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Trump made these remarks during an economic event held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
President Trump reiterated his firm opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear capabilities. He emphasized that he prioritizes diplomatic agreements over military confrontation, noting his desire to avoid loss of life. The US President also disclosed that the US had been prepared to launch one of the most significant military operations since World War II, but postponed the plan following calls for dialogue from leaders in the Gulf region and Iranian officials. According to Trump, negotiations between the parties are currently ongoing.
However, the US President did not rule out a severe military response against Iran should diplomatic efforts fail to yield results. He stressed that the primary objective of the United States remains the prevention of nuclear proliferation in Iran.
