Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a significant surge in interest in the Chinese language across the country, highlighting deepening cultural and educational ties between Moscow and Beijing.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Putin made these remarks during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Russia–China Years of Educational Cooperation. The event was also attended by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.

According to the Russian leader, more than 100,000 citizens are currently studying the Chinese language within Russia, while an additional 20,000 individuals are mastering the language through various educational programs located directly in China. "The number of Russian citizens learning the Chinese language is increasing year by year; currently, this figure has exceeded 100,000. Another 20,000 Russians are studying the language through educational programs in the People's Republic of China," Putin stated.

The Russia–China Years of Educational Cooperation is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral relations through academic exchange, joint research, and linguistic programs. This trend reflects the broader geopolitical shift and economic integration between the two nations, as China remains Russia's largest trading partner. Educational diplomacy has become a cornerstone of the "no-limits" partnership signed between the two world powers, fostering a new generation of specialists capable of navigating the complex economic and political landscape of Eurasia.
