On July 14, President Ilham Aliyev held an expanded meeting with the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, in the city of Shusha.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Slovak delegation, highlighting the significance of the ongoing dialogue between the two nations. "I am pleased that we are continuing our active dialogue. The presence of a large delegation from your administration and government demonstrates the scale of our bilateral agenda and the progress we are achieving," President Aliyev stated during the meeting.
The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the importance of Slovak participation in the reconstruction efforts currently underway in the Garabagh region. "Currently, reconstruction work here in Garabagh is one of our government's main priorities. Therefore, the participation of Slovak specialists is extremely important," he added, noting that the two leaders would soon visit a "smart village" project currently being constructed by a Slovak company.
In response, President Peter Pellegrini expressed his gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the historical significance of the diplomatic ties between the two countries. "We are truly impressed. Since arriving last night, the work done and the infrastructure projects implemented within just a few years since liberation have left a great impression on us," President Pellegrini said. He further noted that Slovakia is proud to be one of the few foreign nations actively participating in these critical reconstruction projects and expressed hope for continued cooperation in future initiatives.
Following the expanded meeting, the two heads of state exchanged gifts, marking a gesture of strengthening diplomatic relations. The visit underscores the growing partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, particularly in the context of post-conflict reconstruction and economic development in the liberated territories of Garabagh.
