Prezident İlham Əliyev: Azərbaycanda işsizlik aşağı həddədir

Azerbaijan has successfully implemented a series of comprehensive social support packages over the past several years, aimed at bolstering the welfare of its citizens and ensuring economic stability.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Islamic Development Bank Group’s 2026 Annual Meetings held in Baku.

The President noted that these social support initiatives have directly benefited more than 30% of the country's population, contributing to a stable socioeconomic environment.

"The poverty and unemployment rates in Azerbaijan are approximately 5%. These issues remain at the center of the state's attention. As our population grows, new challenges emerge. Unfortunately, in a number of countries, including some Muslim nations, opposite trends are observed, which create additional socioeconomic difficulties," President Ilham Aliyev stated.

He emphasized that under such conditions, the creation of new jobs, the development of social infrastructure, and the improvement of public welfare are of particular importance. "As a result of the targeted policy implemented in Azerbaijan, the unemployment rate is kept at a very low level," the President added.

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group's annual meetings serve as a premier platform for discussing economic cooperation, development financing, and poverty reduction strategies among member states. By hosting such high-level international events, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its role as a regional hub for economic dialogue and cooperation within the Islamic world.
