President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijan’s Jewish community.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter says:
“Dear compatriots!
I sincerely congratulate you on Rosh Hashanah, one of the major holidays of the Jewish people, and extend my warmest wishes to you.
Azerbaijan has historically been a meeting point of different civilizations. Exemplary social relations based on mutual respect and trust, friendship and brotherhood have developed among representatives of different peoples and faiths.
In modern Azerbaijan, democratic and legal conditions have been ensured for the fundamental human rights and freedoms of everyone, regardless of their language, religion or ethnic origin. Amid the atmosphere of ethnic and religious tolerance that has prevailed in our society for centuries, the Jewish community preserves its national and spiritual values, language and culture, actively participates in the social and cultural life of our country, which is experiencing major development and progress, and makes a distinctive contribution to strengthening civic solidarity.
On the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, a symbol of renewal, spiritual purity, kindness and solidarity, I once again extend my holiday greetings to each of you and wish happiness to your families and prosperity to your homes.

Rosh Hashanah marks the Jewish New Year and is traditionally associated with renewal, reflection and hopes for peace and prosperity. Azerbaijan is home to a longstanding Jewish community, including Mountain Jews, Ashkenazi Jews and Georgian Jews.
