President Ilham Aliyev received Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on July 8.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the guest conveyed the greetings and an invitation to visit Jordan from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein to the head of state, noting that the King of Jordan highly values his personal relationship with the President of Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and requested that his own regards be conveyed to the King of Jordan. The President also extended an invitation for the King of Jordan to visit Azerbaijan.
The head of state recalled with pleasure his previous meetings with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, both in Azerbaijan, in Jordan, and on the sidelines of international events.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that reciprocal visits and contacts at various levels play a crucial role in the development of relations between the two countries, which are based on principles of friendship and brotherhood. The parties discussed opportunities for strengthening partnerships in political, economic, energy, connectivity, investment, humanitarian, and other sectors. They also exchanged views on regional issues, future contacts, the expansion of the intergovernmental commission's activities, and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Touching upon cooperation in the tourism sector, the parties discussed the potential for launching direct, regular flights between Azerbaijan and Jordan.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan have historically been characterized by mutual respect and cooperation. Both nations, as members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement, frequently coordinate on regional and international platforms. Enhancing economic ties, particularly in energy and tourism, remains a strategic priority for both Baku and Amman as they seek to deepen their bilateral partnership.
