President Ilham Aliyev Meets Czech PM Andrej Babiš in Davos

The leaders discussed expanding cooperation in energy, transport, and mechanical engineering

President Ilham Aliyev met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, in Davos on January 21 to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, both parties emphasized the significant potential for expanding cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economy, energy, mechanical engineering, and transport. The importance of mutual high-level visits in deepening these diplomatic and economic ties was also highlighted. President Ilham Aliyev and the Czech Prime Minister exchanged views on future prospects for partnership and other matters of mutual interest.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The annual forum serves as a critical global platform where heads of state, business leaders, and international organizations gather to address pressing global challenges and foster international cooperation. For Azerbaijan, the forum provides a strategic opportunity to showcase its growing role as a regional energy and logistics hub, particularly in the context of the Middle Corridor and energy security for Europe.

During the discussions, Andrej Babiš extended an official invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit the Czech Republic. In turn, the head of state invited the Czech Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan. Both invitations were accepted with pleasure.
