Iran's ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, has commented on the recent visit of the Armenian delegation led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Tehran.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Iranian diplomat made these remarks during a press conference held to discuss the state of bilateral relations.
Sobhani noted that the visit serves as a clear demonstration of the special character of the existing relations between Iran and Armenia. According to the ambassador, such high-level contacts are of significant importance for the further development and strengthening of ties between the two neighboring countries.
It is worth recalling that on July 3, Nikol Pashinyan and members of the Armenian delegation attended the farewell ceremony for the late Iranian leadership, paying their respects. The Iranian ambassador stated that this gesture underscores the mutual intention of both parties to further consolidate their bilateral cooperation.
The diplomat further emphasized that the Iranian leadership has consistently maintained a respectful approach toward Armenia and the Armenian community residing in Iran. He highlighted that the neighborly relations between the two nations remain at a high level and continue to be a priority for both governments.
Diplomatic relations between Iran and Armenia have historically been characterized by close economic and political cooperation, particularly in energy and infrastructure sectors. The ongoing dialogue between Tehran and Yerevan remains a key focus of regional diplomacy in the South Caucasus.
