Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has held a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the discussions focused on the development of energy, logistics, and trade-economic relations between the two nations.
The parties also exchanged views on other pressing issues currently on the bilateral agenda. This meeting underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts to deepen cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest.
It is worth noting that Iran has long been considered one of Armenia's most significant trade partners. According to statistical data, the trade turnover between the two countries reached $768.1 million in 2025. During that period, Iran accounted for 3.6 percent of Armenia's total foreign trade, maintaining its position among Yerevan's top ten trading partners.
Iran and Armenia share a border and have historically maintained active cooperation in the energy sector, including gas-for-electricity swap agreements, which remain a cornerstone of their economic relationship.
