Iran will no longer launch attacks against neighboring countries.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made this announcement today in an official video message.
According to the president, the Temporary Leadership Council reached a strategic decision yesterday. Under this new policy, as long as no attacks are launched against Iran from their territories, neighboring countries will not be targeted, and no missiles or drones will be fired at them.
"We have no enmity with the countries of the region, and I apologize to our neighbors. Unless Iran is attacked, there will be no military intervention against neighboring countries," Pezeshkian emphasized. The Iranian President added that the country's Armed Forces have acted independently to protect the honor of the state.
This shift in Tehran's military rhetoric comes amid heightened regional tensions and follows several instances of cross-border strikes that have impacted diplomatic relations. Historically, Iran's regional policy has been a focal point for international security, with its missile and drone programs frequently cited as primary concerns by neighboring states and global powers. This commitment to non-aggression, contingent on the absence of external threats, marks a significant diplomatic overture aimed at stabilizing the Middle East and improving bilateral ties with surrounding nations, including Azerbaijan.
