Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with President Ilham Aliyev on August 8.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan released details regarding the discussion.
During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the first anniversary of the Peace Summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, which was supported by US President Donald Trump and ensured the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The leaders also discussed the initialing of the text of the Peace Treaty between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.
Both sides emphasized the significant role played by US President Donald Trump and the United States government in advancing the peace process. They noted the progress achieved over the past year in normalizing relations between the two nations.
The discussion highlighted that the development of economic and trade relations serves as a tangible manifestation of the benefits of peace. In this context, the parties noted the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, as well as the transit of goods through Azerbaijani territory to Armenia and from Armenia to other destinations.
Furthermore, the leaders exchanged views on the implementation of the TRIPP route in accordance with the agreements reached in Washington. The parties underscored the importance of continuing efforts to advance the peace process and ensure sustainable peace, stability, connectivity, and economic cooperation in the region.
The normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia remains a critical priority for regional stability in the South Caucasus. Following the historic peace agreements facilitated by international partners, including the United States, both nations have increasingly focused on economic integration and infrastructure projects, such as the TRIPP route, to foster long-term prosperity and security.
