A Palestinian girl was wounded by Israeli army fire at the Qalandia checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, local sources told Anadolu Agency.
Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition at the girl at the checkpoint, located north of occupied East Jerusalem in the central West Bank. Her identity and the nature of her injuries were not immediately known, and no further details were available about the circumstances of the incident.
Restrictions on movement increase
The shooting took place amid tighter Israeli restrictions on Palestinian movement across the West Bank. Checkpoint closures and roadblocks have isolated communities and hindered access to workplaces, homes and essential services.
Since Israel began its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have intensified attacks in the West Bank, according to Palestinian figures. More than 1,206 Palestinians have been killed, over 13,300 injured and nearly 26,000 arrested, the figures show.
Reported attacks across the West Bank
The reported attacks have included the demolition of homes and other structures, the burning of mosques, the bulldozing of farmland, restrictions preventing farmers from reaching their land, the displacement of Palestinians and the expansion of settlements.
