The autumn season will officially arrive in Azerbaijan on September 23 at 04:05:08 Baku time.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this information was confirmed by the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University (BSU).
Spring season arrives in Azerbaijan
The moment of the equinox is characterized by the Sun crossing the celestial equator, moving from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. During this event, day and night are nearly equal in length, and the Sun rises due east and sets due west. However, due to atmospheric refraction and the angular size of the solar disk, the duration of daylight is not exactly 12 hours but slightly longer than the night.
Following this astronomical event, the Northern Hemisphere transitions into autumn, while the Southern Hemisphere enters spring. Consequently, daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere will gradually shorten as nights begin to lengthen.
In 2026, the astronomical autumn will last for 89 days, 21 hours, 45 minutes, and 1 second, concluding with the winter solstice on December 22. At that point, the astronomical winter will commence in the Northern Hemisphere, while the Southern Hemisphere will begin its summer season.
