The results of the first attempt of the knowledge assessment exam on basic subjects for admission to residency, held on May 3, 2026, have been officially announced in Azerbaijan.
According to the State Examination Center (SEC), candidates can now access their results and a graphical representation of their answer sheets on the official SEC website. The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that applicants can also receive their results via SMS by sending the code indicated on their admission tickets to 7727 through mobile operators Azercell, Bakcell, or Nar. Statistics show that out of 1,702 registered candidates, 34 did not attend the exam, while 556 individuals successfully met the competition requirement by scoring 40 or more points.
Residency training in Azerbaijan serves as the primary postgraduate specialization phase for medical professionals, ensuring that doctors gain the necessary expertise in their chosen fields. The admission process is strictly regulated and divided into two main stages: basic subjects and specialty subjects. For those who did not pass or wish to improve their scores, a second attempt for the basic subjects exam is scheduled for June 21, with registration open from May 25 to June 4, 2026. The final assessment for specialty subjects is planned for August 9, 2026, for all eligible candidates.
An online Appeal Commission (via Zoom and telephone) will be available for candidates to contest their results. Electronic applications for the commission will be accepted through the official portal from 10:00 on May 5 until 17:00 on May 6.
