Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has officially confirmed that he will attend the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pashinyan stated while responding to journalists in the government that the process of resolving issues within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is ongoing, describing it as the organization's normal operational routine.
The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is scheduled to take place on August 6-7 in Cholpon-Ata. Pashinyan emphasized that EAEU institutions continue to function and that official Yerevan remains engaged in addressing the daily agenda within the organization.
In recent times, Armenia's stated interest in integration with the European Union (EU) and the potential impact on its relations with the EAEU have become significant topics on the international agenda. Russian officials have repeatedly stated that while it is Armenia's sovereign right to determine its foreign policy course, such processes should not undermine the interests of EAEU member states.
It is worth noting that on May 11, Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia remains a full member of the EAEU and that a referendum on withdrawing from the bloc would only be considered if an "objective necessity" arises. The EAEU, established in 2015, serves as an economic union of post-Soviet states aimed at facilitating the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor.
