The Armenian government has unveiled its development program for 2026-2031, which is centered on the ideology of a "Real Armenia" and a vision for the country's Fourth Republic. Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Armenian media, that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the initiative during a government meeting.
"Following the results of the June 7, 2026 elections, the 'Real Armenia' ideology has prevailed, becoming the official state ideology of the Republic of Armenia. Consequently, Armenia is entering a new phase in its history, which we define as the Fourth Republic," Pashinyan stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized the distinction between the previous and current political frameworks. "It is crucial to note the difference between the Third Republic and the Fourth Republic. The Third Republic was based on the logic of conflict from its inception, whereas the Fourth Republic is formed on the logic of peace," he noted.
The concept of the "Fourth Republic" marks a significant shift in Armenian state rhetoric. Historically, the Third Republic of Armenia was established following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The transition to this new phase, as described by the current leadership, aims to redefine the state's strategic direction, particularly regarding regional relations and foreign policy, following the conclusion of the conflict in the Garabagh region.
