Armenia's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is based on the fulfillment of mutual obligations rather than solely seeking unilateral advantages. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media.
"In 2025, Armenia transferred approximately $319 million to the EAEU's general import customs duties budget, while the volume of funds distributed in favor of Armenia amounted to approximately $175 million. Thus, Armenia has transferred significantly more funds to the general budget than it has received, which is a direct confirmation of our responsible position and our conscientious fulfillment of obligations within the EAEU framework," Pashinyan noted.
According to the Prime Minister, by the end of 2025, imports from EAEU countries totaled approximately $5 billion, while exports of Armenian products amounted to roughly $3.2 billion. These figures demonstrate that Armenia is not only a participant in the EAEU's common market but also a significant consumer of goods and services produced in the member states.
The Eurasian Economic Union, established in 2015, aims to facilitate the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor among its member states, which include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. The organization frequently holds intergovernmental council meetings to address economic integration, trade policies, and the equitable distribution of customs revenues among its members.
