Azerbaijani border guards intercept illegal border crossing

Six citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have been detained while attempting to cross the state border from Azerbaijan into Georgia illegally.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the State Border Service.

According to the official statement, the individuals were apprehended as a result of operational and military measures conducted within the service area of the "Zaqatala" border detachment of the Border Troops. The detainees were identified as Iguare Oliver Osagie (born 1980), Ogungbure Adesoji Austin (born 1986), Akinniyi Olamilekan Sunday (born 1992), Adele Moshood Adekunle (born 1994), King Tamarasinla Gloria (born 1997), and Ajala Oluvafemi Moses (born 1998).

Operational and investigative measures regarding the incident are currently ongoing.

Azerbaijan frequently strengthens security measures along its borders to prevent illegal migration and cross-border criminal activities. The State Border Service maintains strict surveillance protocols across the country's perimeter, particularly in mountainous and forested regions like Zaqatala, which shares a border with Georgia, to ensure national security and uphold international border regulations.
