A large-scale project has been launched on Tabriz Street in Baku to enhance infrastructure for pedestrians, public transport, and micromobility users, in line with the "State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025–2030."

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

According to the agency, comprehensive analyses revealed several deficiencies on Tabriz Street that hinder pedestrian movement, including narrow sidewalks and a lack of regulated pedestrian crossings in many sections. Furthermore, conflicts between turning traffic and transit flows have reduced the street's capacity, negatively impacting both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Currently, there is no dedicated infrastructure for micromobility vehicles.

Public transport users also face significant challenges, such as narrow sidewalks at bus stops, poor infrastructure, and non-optimal placement of certain stops. To address these issues, the Transport Coordination Council has decided to upgrade the pedestrian and public transport infrastructure on Tabriz Street.

The project includes the creation of a small bus exchange hub near the "Nariman Narimanov" metro station, the installation of new pedestrian crossings, and the establishment of a continuous, safe pedestrian environment. Plans also involve widening sidewalks, improving pedestrian flow management, and creating a buffer zone with trees near the Baku Congress Center. Additionally, designated parking areas will be organized to enhance the area's overall accessibility.

These upgrades are part of Baku's broader urban development strategy, which seeks to align the city's infrastructure with modern mobility standards. By prioritizing pedestrian safety and public transit efficiency, the project aims to transform Tabriz Street into a more functional and accessible urban space.
