A passenger died after falling onto the tracks at the "28 May" station of the Baku Metro on Monday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 20:20 local time, leading to an immediate suspension of power and train movement at the station.

Baku Metro CJSC informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that high-voltage power was promptly disconnected from the contact rails to allow emergency medical personnel to reach the individual. Despite the rapid response and medical intervention, the passenger's life could not be saved. Following the recovery of the body, the train involved was evacuated and sent to the Narimanov electric depot for inspection, resulting in significant delays beyond the standard intervals.

The "28 May" station serves as a critical transport hub in Azerbaijan, acting as the primary transfer point between the Red and Green lines of the Baku Metro. Opened in 1967, the Baku Metro is the main underground rail network in the capital, transporting hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. The metro authority maintains strict safety protocols to manage passenger flow, and an investigation into the circumstances of the fall is currently underway by relevant authorities.
