Foreign nationals attempting to illegally cross the state border from Iran into Azerbaijan have been detained, according to the State Border Service (SBS).
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the individuals were identified as citizens of Afghanistan: Amini Del Aqa, born in 1999, and Rahimi Nazirgul, born in 2003.
The operation was carried out within the service area of the "Horadiz" border detachment of the SBS Border Troops. Operational and investigative measures regarding the incident are currently ongoing.
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan regularly conducts enhanced security measures along the country's borders to prevent illegal migration, smuggling, and other cross-border criminal activities. These operations are part of a broader strategy to ensure the national security and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, particularly along the southern border with Iran, which remains a focal point for border control efforts.
