On March 20, Azerbaijani police officers discovered and seized 5 automatic weapons, 9 rifles, 1 cartridge clip, and 117 cartridges of various calibers during operations across the capital and different regions of the republic.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of the seizures by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the ministry, the operations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and prevent the illegal possession of firearms.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that operational and preventive measures by the MIA staff are continuing systematically to detect and confiscate illegally held firearms and ammunition. These measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and reducing the risk of armed incidents in Azerbaijan. In recent years, the Ministry has intensified its crackdown on unregistered weaponry, frequently conducting raids in both urban centers like Baku and rural districts to ensure comprehensive security coverage across the country.
