Russia is interested in establishing a dialogue with the United States and remains prepared to continue contacts in this direction. However, Moscow has no intention of retreating from its principled positions.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with the "News.ru" portal.
Ryabkov commented on the recent remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the necessity of putting forward new ideas for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Russian diplomat, if Washington's intended efforts involve listening to new proposals, Moscow is ready for such engagement.
The Russian official noted that systematic contacts between the Russian and US administrations, as well as between their respective intelligence services, are ongoing. Ryabkov emphasized that being open to dialogue with Washington does not signify an abandonment of Russia's strategic course.
He added that the time factor is working against Kyiv and the countries of the European Union, and that all parties will eventually have to reckon with the existing realities on the ground.
Context: The relationship between Moscow and Washington remains complex, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Diplomatic channels, while strained, continue to function at various levels, including intelligence and administrative communications, as both nations navigate the geopolitical landscape under the administration of US President Donald Trump.
