President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi accepts US President Donald Trump's proposal to join the regional settlement body

Egypt has agreed to become a member of the Peace Council, an initiative established by US President Donald Trump aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released an official statement regarding the decision. According to the ministry, the formal invitation was extended by the US leader to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Official Cairo has welcomed the move, confirming its participation in the newly formed organization.

The Peace Council was created to ensure regional stability and facilitate a political solution to the Gaza crisis. Egypt's involvement is seen as a strategic step given its historical role as a key mediator in Middle Eastern diplomacy and its direct border with the Gaza Strip. This initiative aligns with broader international efforts to establish a sustainable peace framework and address the humanitarian and security challenges in the region.
