The absence of Real TV Director-General Mirshahin Agayev from the wedding of his son, journalist Mirchingiz Agayev, has sparked discussion on social media.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that claims circulating online alleged Mirshahin Agayev had skipped the wedding because of a dispute with his son and had also barred Real TV employees from attending.
There were also claims that Mirchingiz Agayev and his wife had been held at the wedding venue over a payment dispute concerning the menu.
Mirchingiz Agayev has addressed the claims. He said his father did not attend the wedding, but stressed that the absence was not caused by a dispute.
According to him, Mirshahin Agayev had bought a ticket to Nakhchivan a month earlier and attended the presentation ceremony for Real TV employee Kamran Gasimov's film “The Abode of Paradise.”
“It is true that my father did not attend the wedding because he had bought his ticket to Nakhchivan a month in advance. He was due to attend the presentation evening of Real TV employee Kamran Gasimov's film ‘The Abode of Paradise.’ He had separately announced this. Considering that many officials were also expected to attend the presentation, it would not have been reasonable to think that he would postpone that event and come to the wedding. I can confirm that this information is accurate. He also shared a post saying that he was attending the presentation.”
Mirchingiz Agayev said some Real TV employees, as well as former colleagues, attended the wedding. He did not attribute the low attendance to the claims circulating online.
“Some employees from Real TV attended, and former employees came as well. But they were not the majority. This was not related to the information that had circulated. Many people I had invited from my previous workplace had various reasons for not coming. Some fell ill, and some died. I understand those who died, but there are aspects of the living people's absence that upset me. I would not want to link this to rumors either.”
The journalist also denied reports that he and his wife had been held at the wedding venue. He said they left the venue approximately 15 to 20 minutes after the bill had been settled. (Pravda.az)
