Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has approved a draft amendment in its first reading to provide military personnel with personal identification tags. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the draft law proposing changes to the "Regulations on Military Service" and the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service" was discussed during today's plenary session of the parliament.

Under the new legislation, military personnel will be provided with personal identification tags by the state bodies where they serve or by the entities within their structure. The document emphasizes that soldiers face various risks while performing their duties, including combat operations and other emergencies where they may be killed or injured. In such situations, the rapid identification of personnel and the timely provision of medical assistance—specifically regarding blood type information—is of vital importance. The introduction of these tags aligns Azerbaijan's military protocols with international practices that have proven effective in field operations.

In addition to the identification tags, the bill proposes adding Article 9.4 to the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service" to improve legal regulations in the field of pre-conscription training. The amendment aims to establish a unified and systematic set of rules for preparing youth for military service, with the relevant executive authority tasked with determining the specific regulations for the organization and implementation of this training. This approach is expected to increase flexibility in administration, clarify the division of powers between state bodies, and enhance the overall quality of pre-conscription preparation in Azerbaijan.

The modernization of military identification and training protocols reflects Azerbaijan's ongoing commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities and ensuring the welfare of its Armed Forces. Following the restoration of territorial integrity and the liberation of Garabagh, the Republic of Azerbaijan has focused on bringing its military standards in line with modern international requirements. The Milli Majlis continues to prioritize legislation that supports the professional development and safety of the nation's defenders.
