Lebanon's Ministry of Education has announced the closure of all public and private schools, as well as vocational training institutions, due to escalating security threats and ongoing strikes across various regions of the country.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that the decision aims to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff amid the deteriorating security situation.
The ministry further noted that several public school buildings will be repurposed to provide temporary shelter for families displaced by the conflict. This move comes as Lebanon grapples with an increasing humanitarian crisis resulting from the recent military escalations. According to official reports, recent strikes across various Lebanese territories have resulted in at least 31 fatalities and 149 injuries.
The suspension of the academic year reflects the growing instability in the Middle East, a region where Azerbaijan maintains a position of supporting international law and regional stability. Educational infrastructure in conflict zones often becomes a primary resource for humanitarian relief efforts, as seen in previous regional crises.
