King Charles III of the United Kingdom held a meeting with Mukhtar Babayev, the President of COP29 and Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for climate issues.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to London, Elin Suleymanov, shared details of the meeting on his official account on the X social network.
"The unwavering commitment of King Charles III to environmental protection is an inspiration to the world. COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev joined leading global climate figures, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, at an event dedicated to the problem of super-pollutants. The meeting was organized by the British Royal Family and the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero at St. James's Palace," Ambassador Suleymanov stated.
The meeting underscores the ongoing international cooperation regarding the global climate agenda. COP29, which stands for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, represents a critical platform for nations to negotiate commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address the impacts of global warming.
