Azerbaijan is set to introduce stricter penalties for providing false or distorted information regarding the cutting of bushes. The proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses aim to strengthen the protection of greenery and ensure the accuracy of environmental reporting across Azerbaijan.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the new regulations stipulate significant financial sanctions for those who spread misinformation. Under the proposed article, individuals found guilty of providing false or distorted information about the cutting of bushes will face a fine of 500 manats. Officials will be subject to a 3,000 manat fine, while legal entities could be penalized up to 5,000 manats. The draft law is scheduled for discussion during the plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) on May 26.
These legislative changes are part of Azerbaijan's broader environmental protection strategy, which has seen increased focus in recent years. The government has been actively implementing measures to preserve urban greenery and forest cover, particularly in the context of global climate change and sustainable development goals. By penalizing false reports, the authorities aim to prevent the misuse of environmental reporting mechanisms and ensure that state resources are directed toward addressing genuine ecological concerns and the protection of the country's natural resources.
