Iran and Oman have agreed on the fundamental principles of a temporary arrangement concerning the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint for global energy supplies.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited two diplomatic sources familiar with the negotiations, the "MS Now" television channel reported that Oman has formally accepted the interim agreement.
An unnamed Iranian official stated that under this framework, a new entry route controlled by Iran and an exit route under Omani supervision will be established within the Strait. The official further clarified that, at this stage, no fees or transit duties will be levied on vessels passing through the waterway.
The source indicated that the official announcement of the agreement is expected to involve the United States and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), though a specific timeline for the formalization of these measures has not yet been disclosed.
