Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have concluded an official visit to Oman. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the visit facilitated discussions on bilateral cooperation, good neighborly relations, and issues of mutual interest.

During a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the primary focus was placed on the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington, specifically regarding provisions concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The parties emphasized the necessity of adhering to international legal norms and ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the strait. The Omani minister highlighted the importance of maximizing diplomatic channels to maintain regional stability and strengthen maritime security.

The visit occurs amidst heightened regional tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The agreement reached between Iran and the United States, facilitated by Pakistan, aims to end military clashes that began on February 28, reopen the strait, and prevent future escalations. The framework also outlines a phased lifting of sanctions, contingent upon ongoing negotiations. This diplomatic engagement is viewed as a significant step toward reducing regional friction and securing vital international waterways.
