Following the death of Ali Larijani, a new head has been appointed to Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC). Hossein Dehghan, the former defense minister of Iran, has been named to this strategic position.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information regarding the appointment was released by the Didban Iran portal. Dehghan brings extensive military and strategic experience to the role, having served as Iran's Minister of Defense from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, he has functioned as an advisor on defense industry affairs to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The leadership change follows the targeted killing of his predecessor. On March 18, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Ali Larijani was killed in a strike conducted by the Israeli Air Force. Shortly thereafter, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially confirmed Larijani's death. The Supreme National Security Council is a pivotal body in Iran, responsible for determining the country's defense and security policies and coordinating national strategy under the guidance of the Supreme Leader.
