Hezbollah launched approximately 30 rockets from Lebanon into the Galilee region of northern Israel early this morning, marking a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities.
According to reports from Israel's Channel 12, cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that three of the incoming projectiles were successfully intercepted by air defense systems, while the remainder fell into open areas. Air raid sirens were activated across the settlements of Manara and Kiryat Shmona during the barrage. At present, there are no official reports of casualties or significant damage resulting from the strikes.
This latest surge in violence follows a preliminary round of Lebanon-Israel contacts held in Washington on April 14 under the auspices of the United States. The meeting, led by Lebanon's Ambassador to the U.S. Nada Hammad-Muavvad and Israeli Ambassador Yexiel Leiter, aimed to establish a timeline for formal peace negotiations and a potential ceasefire agreement. The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli forces remains a primary concern for regional stability, frequently drawing international mediation efforts to prevent a wider regional escalation.
