The European Union's foreign policy chief has emphasized the critical importance of involving nuclear specialists in negotiations with Iran to ensure a robust agreement.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made these remarks regarding the future of diplomatic engagements with Tehran.
Kallas stressed that the presence of technical experts at the negotiating table is essential for the integrity of any potential deal. According to the official, failing to include nuclear specialists could result in a significantly weaker agreement. She further noted that overlooking broader issues—specifically Iran's missile program and its regional activities—could lead to the risk of a "more dangerous Iran."
The statement comes at a time of heightened international scrutiny over Iran's nuclear enrichment activities and its geopolitical influence. Historically, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), established in 2015, sought to limit Tehran's nuclear capabilities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, since the U.S. withdrawal from the pact in 2018 and subsequent regional tensions, European diplomats have been striving to find a sustainable framework that addresses both non-proliferation and regional security stability.
