The Prime Minister of Canada has welcomed the cooperation and peace process with Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered a speech at the 8th Summit of the European Political Community (EPC), Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
According to the information, Carney welcomed the progress achieved in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and positively assessed the participation of President Ilham Aliyev in the event via video link. Touching upon the relations between Canada and Europe, he noted that his country was one of the first non-European states to join this format. Carney emphasized that Canada shares a common history, values, and trust with Europe.
It was noted that the Prime Minister highlighted this cooperation is also reflected through the Armenian community in Canada and mentioned that relations with Armenia are developing within the framework of international missions. He emphasized that Canada is the only non-European participant in the European mission in Armenia. In his speech, Carney also pointed out that significant changes are taking place globally in the fields of technology, energy, trade, and geopolitics, stressing the importance of conducting policies in line with current realities.
The European Political Community is an intergovernmental forum for political and strategic discussions about the future of Europe, established in 2022. Azerbaijan has consistently utilized this platform to promote its regional peace agenda and clarify its position on the post-conflict normalization process. The participation of President Ilham Aliyev in such summits underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to constructive dialogue and its role as a key player in ensuring energy security and stability in the South Caucasus.
