The weather in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula is expected to remain predominantly dry until the weekend, according to the National Hydrometeorology Service.

As reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a strengthening north-westerly wind is anticipated from the daytime on August 20 through the daytime on August 21, with temperatures ranging between 29-33°C. By the weekend, specifically August 22-23, a moderate south-easterly wind will prevail, and maximum temperatures are expected to rise to 30-35°C.

In the regions of Azerbaijan, unstable weather with intermittent precipitation is forecast starting from the northern and western districts on August 20, continuing through the daytime on August 21. Some areas may experience short-term intense showers, lightning, and hail. However, the weather is expected to stabilize and become largely dry by August 22-23, with maximum temperatures reaching 33-38°C in the lowland regions and 20-25°C in mountainous areas.

It should be noted that August has seen persistent heat, with temperatures remaining above the seasonal norm for 17 of the first 19 days of the month. On August 9, temperatures peaked at 5.2°C above the norm, reaching a maximum of 38.6°C. Such fluctuations are characteristic of the late summer climate in Azerbaijan, where the transition between heatwaves and localized instability is common.
