Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, during an official visit to Beijing.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports that the meeting focused on the current state of Azerbaijan-China bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as prospects for future development.
The parties noted with satisfaction that the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025 has elevated relations to a qualitatively new level. The ministers emphasized that the documents signed during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China in April last year have provided a significant impetus to cooperation in the political, economic, and transport-logistics sectors. It was also noted that 2027 will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and China.
The discussions highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in trade and economic ties, energy and renewable energy, industry, digital transformation, agriculture, and the humanitarian and educational fields. Joint activities within the framework of the Middle Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route were highly commended.
Furthermore, the sides emphasized the necessity of continuing mutual support within international organizations, including the UN, CICA, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other platforms. An exchange of views also took place regarding regional and global security issues.
During the meeting, the Chinese side was briefed on the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories in the post-conflict period, as well as the ongoing landmine threat. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude for the support provided to the humanitarian demining activities of ANAMA.
Azerbaijan and China have maintained a steady trajectory of diplomatic growth since 1992, with China being one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence. The deepening of ties aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic role in the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly through the development of the Middle Corridor, which serves as a vital link for cargo transit between Asia and Europe via the Caspian Sea.
