Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, met in Bishkek to discuss prospects for hosting the second summit of heads of state in the "Central Asia + USA" (C5+1) format in 2027.
This was reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
The parties reviewed the future development of Kyrgyzstan-US relations, emphasizing the strengthening of political dialogue, as well as the expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Special attention was paid to the development of multilateral cooperation within the C5+1 framework.
Furthermore, President Japarov highlighted the importance of advancing the "B5+1" platform, which aims to bolster economic cooperation and business ties between representatives of Kyrgyzstan and the United States. The Kyrgyz leader also raised the issue of simplifying visa procedures for citizens of his country, including a potential review of the visa bond requirement.
Sergio Gor expressed his readiness to contribute to the further strengthening of Kyrgyzstan-US relations. At the conclusion of the meeting, Japarov conveyed his greetings to US President Donald Trump and wished success to American athletes participating in the World Nomad Games.
The C5+1 diplomatic platform, established in 2015, serves as a key mechanism for the United States to engage with the five Central Asian nations—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—on issues ranging from regional security and economic connectivity to climate change and energy cooperation.
