Israel has announced the elimination of Mohammed Abu Shalal, the military intelligence commander of Hamas in Khan Yunis (Gaza Strip).
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the official statement was released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) regarding the targeted operation.
According to the report, the mission was carried out as a joint operation between the Israeli Army and Shin Bet (Israel's internal security service). As a result of the coordinated effort, Abu Shalal was killed in a precision strike. Military officials stated that as a senior intelligence officer, Abu Shalal was directly involved in the planning and execution of the October 7, 2023, attacks against Israel.
The city of Khan Yunis has remained a primary focal point of the ongoing conflict, as Israeli forces continue operations to dismantle the command structure of Hamas. This latest development follows a series of high-profile operations aimed at neutralizing the leadership responsible for the October 7 incursions, which triggered the current large-scale military response in the Gaza Strip. The elimination of high-ranking intelligence officials is viewed by military analysts as a significant blow to the group's operational and strategic capabilities in the southern region of the enclave.
