Tensions have escalated once again in the West Bank following a series of military operations conducted by Israeli forces.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Israeli military carried out widespread raids across various sectors of the region.
Israeli troops entered the town of Beit Fajjar, located south of Bethlehem, establishing positions in several neighborhoods. During the operation, military personnel conducted raids on Palestinian homes and performed extensive searches.
Reports indicate that soldiers utilized sound bombs and tear gas during the incursions. As a result, a number of local residents suffered from gas inhalation, with some receiving on-site medical treatment.
The operations were not limited to Beit Fajjar. Raids were also reported in the town of Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem, as well as in the areas of Dar Salah, Ash-Shawawreh, Za'tara, Khalayil al-Lawz, and Abu Nujeim. Palestinian sources stated that the searches resulted in significant damage to residential properties and personal belongings.
Additionally, the Voice of Palestine radio reported that Israeli soldiers deployed gas canisters at the entrance to the village of Biddu in occupied East Jerusalem.
Since the onset of military operations in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, there has been a marked increase in raids by the Israeli military and settler activities across the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Palestinian side maintains that these measures are intended to facilitate the annexation of territories and further isolate Palestinian communities in the region.
The West Bank remains a focal point of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, characterized by frequent military incursions, checkpoints, and clashes that have significantly impacted the humanitarian situation and daily life for local populations in the territory.
