The Reformist Front of Iran has issued a formal call for equal access to the global internet, stating that current restrictions and unequal distribution of services are severely impacting the daily lives of citizens.

According to a statement released on Wednesday and reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the group emphasized that cybersecurity policies should transition from "broad shutdowns" toward more technical, targeted, and professional methodologies. The Reformist Front urged authorities to immediately restore stable, free, and secure internet access, highlighting that millions of Iranians rely on the network for their livelihoods, education, healthcare, and social connections.

The statement further criticized the implementation of "tiered internet services," which provide different levels of access to various segments of society. The Reformist Front argued that such disruptions deepen socio-economic problems and called on government authorities to recognize access to the global network as a fundamental right for all citizens in the country.

Internet censorship and connectivity issues have been a point of significant domestic and international contention in Iran for several years. The government frequently implements restrictions or total shutdowns during periods of social unrest, citing national security and cybersecurity concerns. These measures have drawn consistent criticism from human rights organizations and economic experts, who argue that such digital barriers stifle innovation and exacerbate the country's existing economic challenges.
