Three individuals convicted of killing security personnel during the January protests in Iran have been executed, according to official reports.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, reports that the death sentences for Mehdi Qasimi, Saleh Mohammadi, and Said Davudi were carried out in the city of Qom following confirmation by the Supreme Court. The individuals were found guilty of the murder of two police officers during the unrest.

The protests in January were triggered by a severe economic crisis in Iran, characterized by soaring inflation and a record depreciation of the national currency against the US dollar. These demonstrations represented the largest wave of civil unrest seen in the country in the last three years, as citizens voiced grievances over deteriorating living standards and financial instability. The Iranian judiciary has consistently maintained a hardline stance against those accused of violence against state security forces during such periods of domestic instability.
