Two significant earthquakes, measuring 5.2 and 5.7 on the Richter scale, have struck the Kermanshah province in Iran, causing widespread alarm among local residents.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from the Mehr news agency, the first tremor occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers. Just five minutes later, a second, stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 hit the same region, originating at a depth of 13 kilometers.
Authorities have stated that there are currently no reports of casualties or significant structural damage, though emergency services remain on high alert. Iran is situated in a seismically active zone, frequently experiencing tremors due to its location on major fault lines, which often necessitates strict adherence to building codes and rapid disaster response protocols.
